This week I finally got to interview the first person that I met in our first class meeting in FA4-311. Gabriel is from Riverside, CA. Riverside is about an hour and a half away from our campus, but Gabriel luckily has some friends that go to UCI so he decided to move in with them to make his daily commute to campus shorter. For the question of the week: What type of art has had the most influence on where you are today? Gabriel said that origami has shaped him to who he is today. He is a mechanical engineer major so he enjoys to create “stuff.” He began his love for origami at the same time his passion for engineering arose which he says was in his freshman year of high school. His favorite thing to make is a penguin which he got to make in the School of Art Maker Society gallery on Wednesday’s meeting. He makes his penguins and other things when he is stressed. He enjoys making things out of paper and enjoys giving them away to his friends and family.
